I’m doing it again…

I no longer life in the “if i could just” life.  What is the “if I could just” life?  It is living with statements rattling in your brain that start with “if I could just.”

  • If I could just get a promotion
  • If I could just get a date/married
  • If I could just have a nicer car
  • If I could just have more room in my home
  • If I could just…

The statement inevitably finishes (with an assumed) “I would be happy.”

Wrong answer. We are human, and one thing I realize about humans is we are never satisfied by things on this earth. Scripture tells us that we can be satisfied but that comes from Jesus Christ.

This idea where if we could just get something and we would be happy is false. As soon as we get it, there is something else we want where if we could just get it, things would be different. This is especially true when it comes to money.

I noticed myself thinking these thoughts recently.  As I have said before, wifey and I have a contract on a house.  We move-in in a month.  It is easy for me to think thoughts, “man when I get in my new house _______________________”.  Yes I know it doesn’t start with “if I could just” but it is the same premise.

Any stage of life has its own difficulties/challenges.  There will never be a moment where you have arrived to perfect circumstances.  So please stop putting your hope in your circumstances, they will never satisfy you.  (I am indeed talking to myself as well, its fresh bread).
