Christmas is Here

No real estate update for all of those sitting at the edge of your seats. Hopefully we will hear something today.

Perhaps I forgot to mention recently, Christmas is in ONE week. At this point I know it is a little late for me to tell you to save in advance for the Christmas presents. With that in mind I want to remind everyone, you do not have to break out the credit card for Christmas. It is not an emergency, it comes the same time every year. If you don’t have cash…time to get creative.

If you only have $1,000. Only spend $1,000. Do not spend over that. By definition that would be spending more than you have (See Proverbs 22:7). If you are thinking “But Chris, my kids are small they will be so disappointed if they only get 5 gifts instead of 10.” They might, they might not. But it isn’t an option to spend more than you have (this will be helpful for your kids to learn when they get older – that is a great present). I know this is counter cultural and no one thinks like this, but it changes the way people live life.

As most know, Jesus is the reason for the season. How great would it be if you didn’t have a burden of an outstanding debt hanging over your head because of it. How much different would life be if everything was like that. When you go on vacation you don’t have to come back with a bill waiting on you that you continue to pay off for the next 6 months. What if you just…wrote the check and it was over. How freeing does that sound.

I encourage all who are Christmas shopping, get creative if you do not have the money. It is worth it. Start setting aside money each month next year and Christmas will be a blessing and not a burden on some.

Anyway, those are my two cents, as always you can take them or leave them, my feelings won’t be hurt.

Merry Christmas to everyone by the way. I have not officially said that to anyone I don’t think. Tomorrow will be my last “regular” post of 2008. For the next two weeks it will be sporadic (due to the fact I don’t really find my way to a computer when I am out of town). But anyway Merry Christmas if I don’t get another chance to say it…1 more week.
