The Winds are Picking Up

So, I was leading the bi-weekly financial department meeting at Midtown (don’t be impressed it consists of me and my business intern) and we were brainstorming and discussing how to make things better for 2009.

I realized something while I was talking through some things.  I was teaching on “what leaders do.”  The two points that I had were (1) you always look for ways things can get better.  The response, “I think this is good enough” is never acceptable and (2) leaders always look for ways to replace themselves.  Finding others with leadership potential and empower them.

After I said this I thought these type of tidbits would be helpful on the website.  Then I dismissed it because it was not finance related and in fact many times on this blog I have had what I thought to be a great teaching point on leadership or how things work but could not use it because I thought it did not fit.

Well there is only one problem with that, and I have said it many times before.  Personal Finance is just as much personal as it is finance.

Who we are DOES matter when it comes to finance.  It may not fit directly but it ABSOLUTELY does matter in relation to who we are personally.  Therefore, I will choose to share these type of thoughts if and when they do come up.

My natural instinct is leading organizationally.   My giftedness is in understanding how things work and naturally looking for how to improve upon it.  If I have thoughts that I think will be helpful to developing this in others I will share rather than keep it locked up.  No guarantees when it comes but just giving everyone a fair warning.

In an unrelated note, tomorrow will be my last post of the week.  I will not blog on Thursday for Thanksgiving and if you have been around long enough you know what I will be doing on Friday…Black Friday.

Wednesday’s post will be my initial Black Friday feelings.  I will not construct my full game plan til Thursday (it is tradition).
