Getting organized is the first step to pretty much any goal you want to accomplish.
It can be anything. Whether it is attacking your debt or just making a plan, the first thing to do is to put numbers down on paper and get organized.
For example, Black Friday (Day after Thanksgiving – Great day to get Deals) is only 183 days away. If you do not understand my obsession with this time of year, please read my post from last year. That time of year is “game time” for me. I am a major deal finder and love the day after thanksgiving because it is my time to shine.
My goal: To get the coolest stuff, within my budget, and get a GREAT DEAL.
Now in order to accomplish my goal the first step is to get organized. I grab all the advertisements I find, I rank what I plan on getting and will have to narrow down choices to fit into the amount of money I have set aside for my Thanksgiving Shopping Spree. I put all information into a spreadsheet and then map out a route so I can hit all the stores efficiently and in order of importance so that I can accomplish what I set out to do.
I could not accomplish my goal without getting organized first and foremost. My execution and planning would not have worked as well if I did not get organized to start with.
This applies to much more than just holiday shopping. If you are in a financial mess the way to see the light at the end of the tunnel (and know it’s not an oncoming train) is to GET ORGANIZED.
My challenge to you is, if you are not organized in your finances, work on it today. Put numbers down on paper, use the cash flow plan tool that I have in the financial tools section if you want. Whatever it takes to get organized, do it. It is worth it.
