I am such a huge fan of Christmas. And yes, to be honest with you I get excited about the presents. I know that Jesus is the reason for the season but in all honesty I do not like reducing Jesus to one or two days a year. Not to go a on a little soap box but life is about Jesus not one day.
I guess we got the idea of presents from the wise men (you can read the true Christmas story in Matthew 2). Funny thing is we all think it was 3 wise men, scripture doesn’t say how many, it just says it was 3 presents. No, I do not want you to go and throw out your nativity scenes right now but I sure am thankful those however-many wise men chose to set a trend for many years to come (very un-spiritual I know, but like I said I am a big fan of getting and giving presents).
This year I was on a strict budget and had to be creative and think in advance EXACTLY what I was getting everyone. I believe I went a little over but not by much. Throughout the year (actually each month) I set aside money for Christmas present shopping. That makes this time a year so much more enjoyable because you get to spend without having buyers remorse.
Come December 26 is the perfect time to get on this plan. You have 364 days til next Christmas you might as well make a plan cause you KNOW its coming.
I would recommend setting up an ING Direct account that earns interest and have it automatically draft $25 a month (or whatever amount depending how much you want to spend next year). In fact if you want to sign up for an account you can get a free $25 just by signing up. If this interest you, click here.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
